Celebrating the 17th Festival Européen du Film Fantastique de Strasbourg

The 17th edition of the Festival Européen du Film Fantastique de Strasbourg (FEFFS) recently captivated audiences with its eclectic lineup and engaging events. This year, one of the standout moments was a special outdoor screening of the classic action film “Die Hard,” projected on a massive 12m x 6m inflatable screen (AIRSCREEN) in front of the majestic Strasbourg Cathedral. The breathtaking backdrop added a unique atmosphere to the beloved film, creating a memorable experience for attendees.

A highlight of the evening was the presence of esteemed action director John McTiernan, known for his iconic films such as “Predator” and “The Hunt for Red October.” His participation brought a touch of Hollywood to the festival, and fans were treated to a captivating Q&A session where McTiernan shared insights into his filmmaking process and the evolution of action cinema.

FEFFS has carved a niche for itself by focusing on films that stray from the mainstream, allowing audiences to discover hidden gems and unique storytelling. This year’s jury awards recognized outstanding contributions to the genre, with notable mentions including “Memoir of a Snail,” an innovative stop-motion film from Australia, and “U Are the Universe,” directed by Pavlo Ostrikov. These films exemplify the festival’s commitment to showcasing diverse voices and creative visions in fantastique cinema.
